Say What?!

Paul Chambers, who was a 28-year-old trainee account, was getting ready to fly to Northern Ireland to see his girlfriend when Robin Hood airport closed due to snow. He then tweeted to his 690 followers, “Crap! Robin Hood airport is closed. You’ve got a week and a bit to get your shit together otherwise I’m blowing the airport sky high!” A week later, he was arrested for allegedly posing a threat to the airport. This was a bad joke, and thousands of twitter users supported him and participated in a chain asking for his release from prison.

My VIEW:
Okay, the law is taking this WAY too far! All he wanted to do was tweet a joke, not get arrested or actually bomb the airport.  I think that the police officers who arrested him were a bit too sensitive and the whole situation got completely out of hand. I’m sure there are thousands of “bad jokes” posted on twitter, and he was just one of the many. If he really wanted to bomb the airport, he wouldn’t have posted it on twitter for the public to see or leave his contact details out in the open. Twitter is full of bad jokes, and it is a website where everyone is allowed to have a voice. That post was his voice speaking out to his followers. I mean, c’mon, If you can’t have a voice on twitter, then what’s the point of having twitter? I get that the joke maybe went a bit too far, but it should not lead to time in prison. All I know is, just watch what you say on twitter, or the internet in general, and be careful because that could have been any of you!

He has stayed true to RnB music, and I pray that he will continue to produce RnB and Soul. Trey Songz is an extremely hardworker, is dedicated to his art, and is a great leader. He has given speeches at different high schools inspiring students to pursue their dreams. He has taught and given many life lessons as he continues to produce great music. His latest single, Heart Attack, is a major hit and attracts RnB fans all over the world. Trey Songz is an angel on earth and I can’t emphasize enough how amazing Trey Songz is.

BEYONCE KNOWLES

Don’t even get me started with her! I love Beyonce to death. Her latest concert which was given in New York City sold out in 22 seconds! She is just a blessing on earth. She has been in the business for practically her whole life, has produced hit after hit, traveled the world, given out to the community, and showed her love for others. She is married to rapper and producer Jay-Z and has a child called Blue-Ivy Carter. She is a legend in the music industry, and added the word “Bootylicious” to the Oxford Dictionary. Beyonce is an amazing person, truly inspiring, and I will continue to love her for the rest of my life. She has the best heart in the world, and God has given her a breath-taking voice. I love Beyonce and it would just be a dream come true if I could see her in concert or meet her one day. Beyonce will remain in my heart forever and will always be a legend in music.

JOHN LEGEND

Look at those cute little puppy dog eyes! John Legend is so cute and produces wonderful RnB/Soul songs. I love this guy. He is so genuine and down to earth, his smile makes my heart happy, and he is just so beautiful both inside and out. By the grace of God, I managed to see him in concert when he came to Cape Town, South Africa, and was blown away by his talent. He truly has a beautiful voice that just allows you to listen to the sound of his voice and captures your heart. His songs fill my soul and he has stayed true to his genre of music. I will always love John Legend and he has a special place in my heart.

Mohammed Morsi Declared President At Last
Mohammed Morsi, 60, of the Muslim Brotherhood, is elected as the new president of Egypt. Tens of thousands of his supporters gathered in Tahrir square for the sixth day of a sit-in waiting desperately for the winner of the elections. Mohammed Morsi won 51.7 percent of the votes. His victory is only one step closer to improving the government in Egypt. The Brotherhood Leaders promised to continue the sit-in and fight to reinstate the Parliament.

Yep, That’s Right, I Met Him!

Yesterday, as part of my summer job at the US Consulate in Cape Town, I attended a sermon given by retired Archbishop of Cape Town Desmond Tutu. It began at 7:45, and ended at around 8:40. It was a small crowd and only those who knew about it went. I went with the Consul General, Erica Barks-Ruggles, and my dad, Nathan Holt. My job was to take pictures and report on the event, and after the sermon, Desmond Tutu blessed a quilt that was taken down from the walls of the church. Desmond Tutu gave a nice sermon and I have to say, he is quite a comical individual. It was a nice morning with a small group of people who seemed comfortable with each other. We watched the blessing of the quilt take place, and I even ran into someone I knew. It was an awesome time and I wish all of you guys were there with me!

       THIS JUST IN:

Kirsten Stewart ranks first on Forbes magazine’s newest list of highest paid actresses in Hollywood. Kirsten Stewart, who became famous after starring in Twilight, is now a multi-millionare and a world-renowned actress. She earned 34.5 million dollars between May 2011 and May 2012, and her latest movie Snow White and the Huntsman is showing in theatres all over the world. Her awkward mannerisms and way of acting intrigues fans everywhere. Congratulations Kirsten and can’t wait to see the movie!

MY VIEW:

What is the big deal with Kirsten Stewart? In my opinion, she can’t act, she is incredibly awkward, and she never changes emotion. Whenever she is being interviewed, she constantly looks confused and seems to be in pain. She always wears the most "interesting" outfits including Sneakers with dresses and seems to hate fame, her fans, and anything to do with her life. She needs to perk up, get a new wardrobe, and learn how to fricking act. Like c’mon, and her roll as Bella Swan, BARF! “e..e…edward…wh…where..are u” like just say the stupid words without stuttering every 5 seconds. And you know whats funny? The way she acted in Twilight is the way she acts in reality.   Maybe that's why Bella was the perfect roll for her. Because she didn’t have to act, she just had to be herself. And you know what else annoys me? The fact that almost every time Harry Potter is in the same category as Twilight for some award, Twilight always wins. And when the nominees for best female actress (in I don’t know what award ceremony) included Emma Watson as Hermione and Kirsten Stewart as Bella, Kirsten won. Emma Watson actually knows how to smile, can act, and did a much better job than Kirsten Stewart! Anyways, Im done ranting, so peace out y'all!

UPROAR IN EGYPT CONTINUES

The official president of Egypt remains undetermined as the announcement of the winner in the presidential elections has been postponed. Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim brotherhood and his opponent Ahmed Shafik have both declared themselves president. Based on a public vote count, it is said that Mohamed Morsi is the winner by nearly 1 million votes; however, the commissioners (a panel of judges who were chosen by Mr. Mubarak) are in favor of Ahmed Shafik. In the midst of this political confusion, Mr Mubarak is severely ill and was declared “clinically dead” as he was rushed from prison to a nearby hospital. He now remains in a coma and is attached to an artificial respirator in a hospital in Egypt. Egypt remains without a president as Mr. Mubarak is severely ill, leaving the country in political upheaval and confusion.

MY VIEW:

The future president of Egypt, regardless of whether it’s Mohamed Morsi or Ahmed Shafik, will be leading a country that consists of revolts, chaos, confusion, and an unclear/unstructured form of government. Based on my knowledge, I believe that Mohamed Morsi should be the official president of Egypt simply because the majority of the voters voted for him. Ahmed Shafik, who is clearly against Mr. Morsi, may have decided to declare himself winner of the elections due to greed, power, and money. Or, he may have decided to declare himself president simply because he strives to “reunite” the Egyptian nation and lead it out of  its “political upheaval and unrest.” Ahmed Shafik should just step down, allow Mr. Morsi to rule, and HELP the country’s government reform instead of worsen the state of the “nonexistent” government. The results of the presidential elections, once declared, will inevitably spark revolts and protests. It is impossible to please the whole nation, and whatever happens, let's just hope for the best.

Guess Who It Is!

Yep, Guys, that’s right! Miley Cyrus and co-star in The Last Song, Liam Hemsworth, got engaged. After 3 years of on-and-off dating, Miley and her on-screen romance Liam Hemsworth are engaged. Liam proposed to Miley on May 31 with a 3.5-carat diamond ring from jeweler Neil Lane. Miley, 19, and teen heart throb Liam Hemsworth, 22, are madly in love and claim that they “look forward to a life full of happiness with each other.” Liam Hemsworth recently starred as Gale in The Hunger Games, and Miley Cyrus is going to star in the movie LOL which hits theatres soon.  Keep an eye out for this young and soon-to-be married couple that is full of talent!

MY VIEW:
Miley Cyrus is only 19 years old. Why is she getting married at such a young age? Think about it. They’ve been  dating for 3 years. This means that Miley was only 16 when they began going out! 16! Yah yah yah I get that Miley may be more mature than most girls her age because she already has her life figured out and a billion dollars in her bank account, but money, fame, or love doesn’t matter. She's only 19. She has a whole life ahead of her. She is settling down way too soon and way too fast. She needs to take it slow. As for Liam, who in their right mind would propose to a 19 year old girl? I get that love is love.

But married or not, love will always exist between a couple. It’s not like rushing into marriage would suddenly make you love your partner a million times more. NO. I think they should wait until Miley is at least 21. Liam is 22, and yah sure he’s old enough, but Miley Cyrus has a whole life ahead of her. Well, considering, she does act mature. In fact, sometimes she acts too mature, as if she's 40 in a 19 year old girl’s body. And, I admit, they are incredibly cute together :). But who am I to judge, I don’t know them. I don’t know her or him, I’m just basing this on the information I am hearing. Anyways, God bless both of them, and I pray that Miley doesn’t turn up pregnant at the wedding. And I really hope that this marriage lasts a lifetime, not fricking 72 days like that crazy head Kim Kardashian.  Anyways, Until next time.

Breaking News!

May God bless this little girl's heart. Her name is Isabella Kruger and she is only 3 years old. She suffered severe burns over 80% of her body. She burned herself on New Year’s Eve, when a container that consisted of fire lighting fluid exploded. The flames surrounded her body. Isabella remained in the hospital for several months and the swellings grew to 3 times her size. While in hospital over those several months, she suffered from Pneumonia, Kidney Failure, and several cardiac arrests. Now, she is undergoing surgery in Johannesburg where they have removed her burned skin, leaving her body covered with perfectly pink skin.

Skin has been grown from her skin cells in Boston, and now doctors covered the pink skin with the cloned skin from Boston. The cloned skin is completely attached, however it is see through. Hopefully, This little girl will come out of the surgery alive and well. Her prayers remain forever in my heart and I will continue to pray for her everyday. May God bless her soul, and I am blessed to be alive and healthy. Whenever you think your life is bad, you are suffering, or you are going through a tough time, just think of this 3 year old girl and the problems she is facing. She has strength and courage to even still be alive. She is strong and, God willing, she has a long life ahead of her. Isabella Kruger truly is an inspiration to us all, and she will continue to be the angel that she is. We love you Isabella and our prayers are with you!

FIRE
Fire
Red As Blood
Hot as the Sun
One Touch and All is Gone
Fast as Fireworks
In the Fireplace
I burn on Wood
And End My Days

Hey Everyone! Welcome to my blog :) Ive already written lots of poems and 2 stories about my life regarding parties, alcohol, and the place I live: Cape Town. This blog will basically be about anything that is on my mind :) Enjoy!

Death
Blazing flames surround me
Burning my skin
Smoke fills my lungs
Pulling me in
Blinded by the fire
Hot as the sun
I knew that one day
This nightmare would come
The heat of the fire
Suffocates my soul
As I slowly melt
Into the ground below.

Empty
It is a dark, mysterious night
Silence fills the freezing cold air
The stars have disappeared in the gloomy night sky
I sit alone in a place unknown
Scared of life and depressed from love
Wishing to return to the heavens above
I wish to leave this dreadful place
And find the joy that once filled my soul
For my heart is trapped in a devilish heaven
And nothing but emptiness runs through my veins forever.

Life
I remember joy
I remember happiness
I remember love
I remember peace
I remember when flowers blossomed
And the animals came to life
When children played
And the birds chirped
When families came together
And cooked feasts for the nation
When a little girl smiled
At a handsome young boy
When marriage meant love
That lasts a lifetime
When we talked instead of text
And read instead of watch
When we lived our own lives
Instead of watch fake ones being lived
When we did what made us happy
Not what pleased the society
When we listened to nature’s plea
But continued to kill the trees
When beauty meant the inside looking out
Not the outside ignoring the in
When judgment never existed
And I lived my own life
I remember when I was a little girl
Playing on the streets without a care in the world
Blinded by happiness, joy, and love
Surrounded by kids just like me
Whose only wish was to remain happy and free

The Murderous Storm
An angry wind viciously murders a thousand trees
Violent waves crash against the lonely surface
Dark gray clouds fill the dreadful sky
Rain rushes down, flooding the jungle
I lie in peace on the ground below
Letting the rain freeze the blood in my veins
I am lost and abandoned in a thunderous storm
Cold and hungry in a world unknown
Motionless and painless as I let myself go
And slowly rise into a newfound world

Natural Beauty
Silence fills the cold air
A gentle breeze brushes against the leaveless trees
The water ripples against the surface
Small gray clouds are scattered in the perfectly blue sky
Birds chirp in the far off distance
My only companions in this unknown land
I sit in peace on a brown crooked rock
Alone, thoughtful, content, and curious
Wondering Am I where I am supposed to be?
And is God proud of me?

PROBLEMS
Something I Wrote when I was angry at the age of 15
Sometimes I wonder about life. Who we are, why we are here, and the decisions we make. Life is one big puzzle that has yet to be complete. Alcohol. Drugs. Cigaretttes. Sex. We are responsible for our own decisions in life, bad or good. However, did you ever wonder if it was really you? If it was your fault? Did you ever actually sit down and think about the fact that it was your own decision to get drunk last night and make out with random guys, or do you just blame it on your friends? Maybe even peer pressure? Peer pressure leads you to do a lot of things that you, yourself wouldn’t normally do. It is your choice. You have to stay strong and resist to peer pressure. You may blame it on your friends, cry and say I will never do it again, understand that it’s bad, but still continue. Learn to say NO. Learn to STOP.

Alcohol. I have a story about that. I am fifteen years old, live in cape town, and I’m a girl. In capetown, there are so many parties, House parties, venue parties, beach parties, and pool parties. These parties lead you to do things you would never imagine. Like any other cape tonian girl, I think it’s cool to go to parties, enjoy getting drunk, and agree to smoke because I can’t say no.  You run into many stoners, agree that they are loosers with no life, but you don’t have the courage to tell them what they are doing is wrong. Or maybe, you may look down on them now, but in a few years time, that would be you! You have to be wise. I know how fun the parties are, I realize that its fun getting drunk, and hell-I do feel cool when im at them! But, you’re only 15, and you have 18 years of your life being a kid, and 70 years being an adult. When you’re 18, you can party every year for the rest of your life, go clubbing everyday, get drunk how much you want, and drive, the freedom is yours! But right now, at 15 years old, honestly from your heart, do you really think its right? Do you really think that becoming stoned at such a young age, going to parties is the right thing to do? Do you believe that drinking is cool? The stuff doesn’t even taste good!  Sober girls at parties even act drunk sometimes, just to look cool. Being wasted is not cool. The next day, you can’t remember a fu king thing, too much alcohol can lead you to having sex with someone you don’t know, get pregnant, take weed, do drugs, and basically ruin your life. Is that cool to you? Does having sex with a stranger in the bathroom sound cool? Or doing weed, and becoming an addict, failing classes sound cool? No, its not. Getting that wasted does not benefit you in anyway, it just makes yiou happy when you are bored.  You have only 3 years left of being a kid, then you’re free, out in the real world, facing life and not a fantasy, living under your own roof and not your parent’s. you need to start making important decisions now, when you have time to change, you have time to learn, to stop, and a roof to live under.  If you continue living a life of smoke, drugs, and beer, you will not go far. You won’t know how to live in the real world. God gives us second chances, God gives us a great life, a great gift, and we ruin it. How would your grandpa feel If he found out about the parties and what you were doing? And your parents? And brothers? Think how much of a shame you would be to them if you continue living like this. God gave us something wonderful, and we should live life everyday. You should be able to have as much fun as you can while you are sober, and not rely on alcohol nonsense in order for you to have fun at a party. You have to listen, stop, think, change, and be yourself, not someone else.

I Am
I am the stars that shine in the darkness of the night
I am the everlasting beauty of the deep blue sea
I am the blood of a lion in the scorching savannah
And the heart of a cheetah sprinting for its prey
I am the sound of eternal laughter
And the happiness of all humanity
I am the melted chocolate sauce of an ice cream Sunday
And the black, burnt marshmallows cooked in a fire
I am the tears that fall from the heavens above
And the beam of sunlight as it breaks free from the clouds
I am the struggle of the African slaves
And the living dream of Martin luther King
I am the impatience of my father
And the love from my mother
I am the delicacy of nature
And the blossoming of a flower
I am the gift of life
I am the sound of crickets in the morning gloom
I am a part of a new generation

I am.
Hey Guys! This is something I wrote for English class not too long ago, and this is my first blog post! Enjoy :)

My Favourite Place in The World

The mysterious mountains are alive with the gleam of sunlight, beaming under the clear blue skies. The turqoise- colored water glimmers as the waves ride along the soft, white sand. A calm breeze emerges, bringing the leaves to life. This fantastic place, surrounded by gorgeous, white, sandy beaches, sunshine, and colorful mountains is in Cape Town, South Africa. It is known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is my home. Waking up to the wondrous smell of the ocean, letting the air brush against my curly hair as I glance over the white balcony at the surfers in the distance gives you a feeling that one could only wish for. It is a sense of happiness that is impossible to describe in words.  It gives me a feeling of warmth. It makes me feel at ease with nature. Early morning walks along the never-ending beach, late afternoon lunches at local restaurants gazing out into the horizon, early evening surfing with mountains in the background is my typical Saturday experience. I love the unexpected weather, languages, and people. Xhosa,Afrikaans, Zulu, and tsetswana are some of the local languages. Listening to locals speak in their mother tongue as I walk to the small, neighbourhood shop at the corner is an experience I will never forget.

Numerous Xhosa speaking people live in the townships, places that give you a taste of  undeveloped African communities. The tin shacks are covered with mud. The primary schools are poor, with dirt fields as playgrounds and not enough books for the students. The students dress in grubby clothes as they sit in the crowded classrooms. The parents are often nannys, teachers, sellers, cleaners, or cooks. They have low-paying jobs and work to survive. On weekends, countless kids play soccer barefoot in the uncut grassy fields.  Children are seen frolicking in the polluted streets, running through the tin shacks and playing with empty water bottles. Kids love wandering around sucking on lolipops or munching on chips. There are people selling books, toys, cheap illegal DVDs, backpacks, and shoes in the busy marketplace located at the center of the townships.

Many Afrikaaners live on luxurious and beautiful wine estates with vineyards stretching far into the mountains. The wine tastes fresh, new, and perfect. A mixture of  delicious red and white wines fill the drink menus at expensive restaurants, while thousands of grapes are growing along these beautiful  vineyards. The sun turns the perfectly cut grass into a beautiful shade of green.  Husbands and wives have their pictures taken in these amazing vineyards, under the marvelous sunset, with hills stretching far and wide in the background after wedding ceremonies. It is a picture perfect area to live in.

Cape Town will be my home forever and always. Its beautiful views, beaches, surfing, and even the townships will stay in my heart forever. It is the perfect mixture of a nice holiday vacation and a true undeveloped African experience. It is one of the best places to surf in the world. It serves some of the tastiest wine ever, and is world-wide known for its beauty. Cape Town truly is my favourite place in the world, and will always bring warmth to my heart.
