5 months in ....Together but Alone

Started off with fireworks and a bunch of shooting stars
All you wanted was to be with me and dance with me at bars
Take my hand, spin me around, and sex me all night long
You loved and desired me - boy was our chemistry strong

And now we're laying back to back, where did we go wrong?
When did we start dancing to the beat of different songs?
I find myself wanting you, my yearn for you is strong
But all you do is watch TV and take hits from your bong
I ask you what's the matter, you complain and say "you're tired"

Is it all that weed you do that killed your sexual desire?
Is it all that kush you smoke that burnt out all our fire?
Is it me you're annoyed by, and you're just telling a lie?

I miss us, and the way we used to be
I miss playing ball on broken down concrete
I miss taking walks and telling jokes on the street
I miss going on hikes and doing different activities
I know we're stuck at home, but there's more to life than weed and TV
I miss sex, pleasure, and making love to eachother
Riding you, hitting from the back - boy you made me shudder
A life of batteries - please dont make me suffer

I miss the way you look at me - that look you give when its only me you see
With love in your eyes, and contempt with just being
You, me, and the sounds of trees
Can we go back to that, to you I plead
I don't know, but we shall see

3 months in

Thank you for all that you’ve done

It really does mean a ton

From awkward first dates, head rubs and all; 

Treading through forests getting lost in trails;

To this moment right now  - yes we have prevailed

 - as girlfriend and boyfriend, to us let’s hail 

You are the funniest person I’ve ever known

imitations, crazy accents, and inappropriate jokes 

A jerk you may sometimes sound

Talking about a “hot girls only class” that you aim to have found

But your humor is one a many I  keep you around

You’ve taught me about life

Mantis shrimp, dogs, and the beginnings of time

You’ve taught me to question everything I know

And to google everything following a show 

From where are they now after 90 day fiancé 

To the true story behind the greatest showman

(don’t worry - these secrets are here to stay)

Your curiosity  sincerely amazes me 

And without you, challenged I would not be

You’ve always been there to answer the phone

To listen to my troubles, rants, or just talk about drones

You’ve shown me what love is, and you’ve brightened my soul, 

So yes, I have you to thank 

For inviting me into your life, 

And bringing me home to stay.

We’ve had a crazy time together, so I have some memories to share

So take a seat, listen, and enjoy as I take us there

I will never forget the first time we met

With the bartenders, jazz, and excuses we set

“I have papers to grade” – yes that was mine

“I have dogs to watch” – sadly that was yours

But our meeting lasted for hours - and don’t worry – it was far from sour

Or our first date at the Caribbean place 

A blast one would think, but not so fast

You gave me your coat in the pouring down rain

And me, an idiot, looked at you and asked “what should I do with this?” Oh god- the pain

I don’t quite remember what your response was 

But you didn’t run away; instead you stayed

The cause of which I am surprised to this day

In basketball, we played for hours on end

With you 6’3 and me 5’2, 

I for sure thought I could beat you 

(again…I question why you stay) 

But back to the story of our basketball fury

You smoked me in both games, yes I admit

But it was fun (for a tiny bit)

Our “cordial” debates from politics and voting

to pineapple pizzas, doggy ears, and the patriots winning

We have laughed until our stomachs ached

At the way I ate a twix bar 

To moonwalking like drake 

Or sharing the bed with axel and jazzy 

-a stratego game on getting cozy 

And while at a party, you broke into convo

With your boys about …strip clubs, sex, and pooping in pants 

Yes – that was a confusing stance

But through it all, you truly are the greatest person I’ve ever known

And you have a graceful heart and a beautiful soul 

You’ve shown me what a true man is 

You’ve picked me up from the airport with flowers and twix 

You’ve shown me football and star wars

Surprised me with shows

You’ve supported me and cooked for me

Taken me to dinners and let me control the car stereo

You’ve shown me how to be true to you

And made sure I was okay when I was feeling blue

Most importantly, you’ve shown me a love whose existence I never knew

And my heart is full of ever-lasting love for you

So I hope you enjoy this random gift day despite all I’ve put you through

And I am the luckiest girl to have a boyfriend like you
